Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Effery is a note-taking app with auto-expiring notes. It has no accounts, no servers, and no sign-up. Everything happens on your device.
2. Data stored on device
Your notes are stored locally using MMKV, encrypted with AES-256. The encryption key (MEK) is stored in the device's Secure Enclave via Expo SecureStore. When the app is locked, the key is cleared from memory.
No data is stored on external servers. No data leaves your device unless you enable iCloud sync.
3. iCloud sync
iCloud sync is optional. When enabled, your encrypted notes are synced via Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store. Data is encrypted before leaving the device and remains encrypted in iCloud. Apple manages the iCloud infrastructure — Effery has no access to your iCloud data.
4. Face ID & biometrics
If you enable Face ID or biometric unlock, authentication is processed entirely on your device by the operating system. Effery never receives, stores, or transmits biometric data. It only receives a success/failure result from the system.
5. Notifications
Effery uses local notifications only to remind you before a note expires. These are scheduled on-device. There is no push notification server. No data is sent to Apple or any third party for notifications.
6. Analytics & tracking
Effery does not include any analytics, tracking, or third-party SDKs. There are no ads. The app's NSPrivacyTracking is set to false and NSPrivacyCollectedDataTypes is empty.
7. Data collection
Effery collects no data. No personal information, no usage data, no device identifiers. Nothing is sent to any server, ever.
8. Children's privacy
Effery is rated 4+ on the App Store. Since the app collects no data and has no accounts, it is safe for users of all ages.
